This summer, the ALIS team partnered with EPIC Academy, a progressive charter high school in South Chicago, to participate in a program focused on helping students understand the vast career opportunities available to them in the technology space.
Twice a year, each EPIC class is paired with a local organization and submerged into a week-long “walk in their shoes” project. These “Intensives” are an innovative and unique program designed by EPIC Academy to introduce careers the students may not have been exposed to previously, and give them skills and experience to take into the professional world.
For the ALIS Intensive, a group of 20 students were divided into four teams — product management, engineering, sales, and client services. Each team worked together to research the assisted living industry and prepare for the product launch of ALIS Connect, our new 3rd party portal set to debut later in 2017. At the end of the week, the entire group took a trip to the ALIS headquarters in Chicago to present their findings, discuss their revelations/challenges, and experience a piece professional life in our office space.
The entire ALIS team absolutely loved getting to know the students of EPIC Academy, and were blown away by their initiative, insights, and hard work. A huge shout out to the EPIC faculty and administrators for executing such an awesome Intensive.
